The Historic Kooroongarra Town Centre – Established in 1905
At the start of Covid in 2021 Suzy Shepherd, a city chic from Brisbane purchased the historic town centre of Kooroongarra. The goal was to re-establish the historic township as a tourist destination as well as a community centre and a place of rest for those who visit.
Originally established in 1905 as the Kooroongarra Dairy Co-operative with a 1000 shares issued to support the local dairy farmers creating Cheddar cheese for local and international markets.
The town supported a Butcher Shop, General Store, Cheese Factory, Post office, Saddler, Blacksmith, Boarding house and the Cheese Factory Managers Residence.
Sadly the general store burned to the ground in 1963 however the story now lives to tell another generation.
